CAN YOU APPLY STRIP LASHES OVER MINK LASHES?
Mink Lashes are sustainable way to attain the fullness of strip lashes without the damage, and have converted many falsie-wearers to the good news of everlasting density—provided they get regular fills. Aside from providing wearers the dramatic curl, color, and length of strip lashes, 3D Mink Eyelashes when applied by a skilled artist, lash extensions do not cause any harm to the natural lash line.
But some habits won’t go down without a fight. And on occasion—even with a set of perfectly-tapered silk classics—your strip lashes call out to you with the promise of a bangin’ night out. For old-time’s sake. So we decided to find out once and for all if classic lashes are up for the challenge. A couple weeks ago The Mink Lashes SHOP applied falsies on top of my classic lash set, and this is what happened.
Mink Lashes SHOP applied the strip lashes perfectly—he is a professional, after all. If I had to put on my own falsies, my corneas would likely be recovering and this post would be in the trash. (Thankfully, my eyes are in tip top shape, and I have 600 words to prove it.) Calvin, who has applied falsies over classic lashes before, says the key to a safe application is using the right amount of adhesive. “If you use too much glue, it can seep into the lashes,” he says. So paint the strip lightly, and apply it to the lid as close to the natural lashes as you can without actually touching them. To hide any gap between natural lashes and falsies, use an extension-safe eyeliner to create a smudgey effect. Finally, use a clean spoolie to brush the strip lashes and extensions together for a seamless set.
Now, for the tricky part: the removal. This went slightly less perfectly than the application. Though about as good as you could hope for.
I lost two natural lashes.
I’m aware two lashes is not a big deal—they were probably ready to shed anyway. But if you were considering introducing strip lashes back into your beauty routine in any kind of regular way, losing two Mink Lashes every time you peel them off should concern you.
In our online web series, Mink Lashes SHOP talks about her experience wearing false lashes every day—and more importantly, how taking them off resulted in gaps in her natural lash line. For extension-wearers who have spent time, money, and energy to keep your lashes looking amazing between fills, risking the health of Mink Lashes—not to mention your natural lashes—is likely not something you want to make a habit of.
For me, losing those Mink Lashes SHOP was enough to put my falsies away. I’m a big supporter of natural lash health, and intend to keep every Mink Lashes SHOP alive until it’s ready for lash heaven. Plus, my classic sets already double the fullness of my lash line and boost my length. So if you’re OK with losing a lash or two and opt for strip lashes on the occasional evening out, you won’t be ostracized—and your lashes will likely be OK. But keep your relationship with falsies casual, definitely avoid using them more than once per fill, and remember that natural lash Mink Lashes SHOP health is number one.
